September 29, 2007   Cup Games

Well it’s that time of the season: Cup 1st Round Weekend! Good luck to you all if you are playing today - make sure you send in your results speedily after the game! I hope none of the games go to penalties - as I haven’t written website bits to deal with that scenario yet! ;)

September 22, 2007   Update

Quick update for you all: Two games today - In Division 1, Lowfors triumphed 3-1 over Meredith Road to register their first points of the season, meanwhile in Division 2 Hinckley Baptist continue their good start with a 2-0 victory over St John’s Westwood.

September 16, 2007   Update

Lots of games this weekend, with everyone playing but ourselves (Sporting Myton) and Meredith. First off, give yourselves a big pat on the back - go on, you deserve it - for getting all of the results in to me by the end of Saturday. That’s fine work, and means that many of us are waking up to the smell of coffee, sun streaming in through the windows and fresh up-to-date tables. Sweet.

So, on to the results. In Division 1, ARYPT1 and Binley both win big over Lowfors and Cathedral respectively, and cement their positions at the top of the table - while Hinckley DARE pick up their first win of the season with a convincing 4-1 victory over Affinity.

In Division 2, it shows just what a tight division this will be this season, with big winners on the opening day of the season Queens Road, losing 3-0 to ARYPT2 and Hinckley Baptist recording their first win in over a year against New Horizons. Huw informs me that the boys from Hinckley now have more points than all of last season - good work chaps! Elim recorded their first win of the season too, 3-2 against St Johns, and Coventry Saints prove that winning is like waiting for a bus; once one comes, another one will shortly follow - with a “fine victory” over Holy Trinity Attleborough.

Finally, quick bit of housekeeping. Remember to send in your teamsheets prompty to Andy Hargreaves too - as he is still the “official” league statistician (and records important things like top-scorers and fair play ratings). Thanks!

September 15, 2007   Reminder

Played a game today? Score not on the website yet? Why not e-mail it to me by sending an e-mail to results@covchurchfootball.co.uk. Don’t worry about not knowing if someone’s sent it in already - I don’t mind getting it more than once.

I’ll post a round-up of all the scores once they are all in.

Wicked.

September 9, 2007   New Stuff

Everyone loves new stuff. I know I do. That’s why I’ve just put loads of new fixtures up on the site. All of them, actually. I’ve also added lots of funky techno-magic under the hood of the website to automatically update the league tables when the scores come in, but I doubt many of you are interested in that. Well, maybe Jon.

I’ve also corrected a few incorrect names - so fans of Lowfors, Holy Trinity Attleborough and Coventry Saints, you can all relax and enjoy the league tables as much as all of the correctly-named teams could.

Anyways - if you spot something amiss, or you know of a cancellation or a rearrangement please do drop me a comment and let me know as it will take me all of a nanosecond to fix it.

Also, a quick jaunt over to the Rules & Forms page will reveal a couple of documents for your downloading pleasure - including the league rules and all the teamsheets you’ll need. Enjoy.

September 3, 2007   1st Round Cup Draw

Ding Ding - Cup draw is in. All of the fixtures can be found on the cup page (link to yo’ left), and the ol’ “fixture computer” has thrown out some interesting ties - the pick of which is the “Nuneaton” derby between Hinckley Baptist and Holy Trinity Attleborough. Sporting Club Myton make the long trip to Nuneaton too, in a repeat of the opening league fixture against Hinckley DARE - while Coventry Saints and Elim Eagles meet each other again too.

September 2, 2007   Update

Well, first weekend of the season - hasn’t the “summer” flown by quickly!?

In Division 1 it looks like being a cracking season with the title-chase thrown wide open by champs Streams of Life dropping out of the league. In the battle of the promotees, it was Sporting Club Myton who came out resounding winners over Hinckley DARE in a 5-1 rout, and it’s the Div 1 new-boys who currently top the table. Affinity and Binley served up an entertaining encounter, with Binley narrowly shading it 4-3, while ARYPT1 started off their title challenge with a convincing 4-2 win over Meredith Road. The match between Cathedral and Lowfors has been postponed to the 22nd.

So, onto the Division 2. Queens Road start the season off in fine style with a 9-1 thumping of league new-boys Holy Trinity Attleborough, and they top the table, closely followed by New Horizons who triumphed 4-0 over ARYPT2. Also, hats off to Coventry Saints who chalk up their first win in a while with a narrow 3-2 victory over Elim Eagles. Meanwhile St John’s vs Hinckley Baptist has been postponed.

Welcome

Hello, and welcome to the new Coventry & District Church Football League website!

It’s a bit rough around the edges at the moment, but more features, fixtures and goodies will be added in due course. Hang tight, soldier. In the meantime, feel free to have a wander round and familiarise yourself with where things are. You’ll probably be headed straight for the Division 1 & 2 tables, no doubt - in which case, feel free to use the handy links on the left of the page. I’ve only added in 2 weeks worth of fixtures at the moment, but more will magically appear over the coming weeks. No cup fixtures yet - but they, too, will appear up as and when.

Remember - the quickest way to get your scores on the website is to e-mail results@covchurchfootball.co.uk on the day. It’s an important e-mail address, so why not stick it in your address book now before you forget. It’s ok, I’ll wait.

If you are using older browsers (say, IE6) there may be a few broken things on the website - or a few things not looking quite right. Probably best to let me know if that’s the case and I’ll see if I can fix them up - but I’d recommend you upgrading to something newer and sleeker, like Firefox, to really enjoy your covchurchfootball fix.

Happy Browsing!
